| Its time for a mid-summer assessment. I have been "working" for my parents, which is pretty relaxing, but its also not very lucrative. I'm still a good chunk of change away from where I want to be when I leave in 5 weeks. I can't work enough to make that kind of dough. The work just doesn't exist. One can only cut down and split so many trees, you know. On top of that I would still like to acquire a few items for the trip . Most notably, it would be nice to have a digital camera so I can post pictures of D-Land (Does anyone know a really good way of posting large res pictures online? my umich space is going to be dicombobulated soon). It would also be nice to get some new hiking shoes and a backpack. My old shoes, purchased 3 years ago in Germany, had holes galore, virtually no remaining tread and I accidentally doused them in motor oil when I last changed the oil in the Euro. My backpack, while still in reasonable condition after 5 years of hard service, is really too small if I want to be packing for a year. Then there's the $150 fee I have to pay if I terminate my phone contract. There's still a year remaining on the contract and there's no sense in paying $35/month for a phone I'm not using. So the moral of the story is this... I need more work to do. If you have any sort of need for a handyman, mechanic, landscaper, flooring person, wallpaper person, lumberjack, painter, power washer, assembly line worker, or rocket scientist then I'm your guy. My sister says I could be a model too, if thats what you need.
Car news: its dead. Done. Toast. Adios. Auf Wiedersehen. Its parked at Willowtree. I'm going to try to take the head unit out before calling the charities. For the present, I'm sharing a geriatric grand am with my sister (who turns 16 on the 30th) and driving my moms bling trailblazer.
In other news, God is good and so is Barbara.
Oh, the other news is that I'll be living in Cologne during world youth day! Yeeehhaaaaaaww! Gotsta get me some tickets now.
Sorry everyone. Gotta go shower and then be a fun older brother. [The sun is going down over a misty meadow in my backyard after a rain. Life is good.] |
